BOND 2018 COMPLETE
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the Royse City ISD community approved a $60 million bond proposal with 79.20% of voters in favor. The referendum was designed by a committee of citizens to meet the rapid student enrollment growth within Royse City ISD.
The $60 million total was funded through property value growth within Royse City ISD and with a zero tax rate increase for property owners. The land for the new middle school in Fate is already owned by Royse City ISD.
Bobby Summers Middle School opened in August 2020 for students in grades 6-8. At that time, the district’s grade configuration shifted to a Pre-K to 5th-grade elementary model, a 6-8th grade middle school model, and remain with one 9-12th grade high school. This transition allowed the district’s two intermediate campuses (Herndon & Cherry) to become elementary schools in 2020.
