BILL COOKSTON

Bill Cookston was a member of the first undefeated Regional Champion Royse City Bulldog football team of 1954.  Playing in what many now call 'Iron Man' football, Cookston played on both sides of the ball and played many positions as needed.  Either it be a guard, a middle linebacker, defensive back, punt return specialist, kickoff return or whatever was needed as Mr. Cookston stated, and he excelled to be one of several that were named to the top All District teams of that era. He was a multi-sport athlete as well as he was a member of the Boxing Team, Basketball and was a Regional Track Qualifier in the 180-yard low hurdles, 120-yard-high hurdles, 100-yard dash, 200-yard dash and the mile relay team.  He also qualified in the high jump and the broad jump during his high school career as a Royse City Bulldog. After playing on one of the most prolific teams in Royse City High School History, Cookston went on to serve on the Royse City City Council, became a successful business man in the banking industry and continues to this day as one of the most supportive, proud champion and advocate for Royse City ISD Athletics and Academics.

GABRIELA MENDOZA

Gaby has a storied high school and college cross country and track career. In 2000, Gaby made it to the state cross country meet and placed 24th with a time of 12:41. The following year, she again advanced to state in the 1600 and placed 6th with a time of 5:44. She would again qualify for the state meet in cross country placing 4th with an 11:47 performance. Gaby would go on to Southern Arkansas University to compete in cross country, track & field. In her freshman season, Gaby became the first female SAU cross country runner to garner first team All-Gulf South Conference honors and just the fourth all-time to earn an all-league plaudit. As a junior, Gaby again earned All-GSC recognition. She carried that success into the NCAA South Region Championship and landed inside the top 20. At the time of her graduation, Mendoza held the program records in the 5K (18:23.00), 6K (22:30.00) and 1500M. In 2022, she was inducted into the Southern Arkansas University Athletic Hall of Fame.

CARLOS GALLEGOS

Carlos played varsity all four years of high school in football, track and baseball. He was a two-time class 3A All-State Selection at wide receiver and named District 10-3A Offensive Most Valuable Player as a senior. In 2007, he was an Academic All-State pick along with being a three-time All-District Wide Receiver. In 2006 Carlos received the acclaimed Dallas Morning News all-area pick. To top it off he was a 3-time All-District Pitcher. He received a scholarship to Washburn University (D2) for football and baseball. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident in 2009 would end his sporting career. Carlos married in 2012 to high school sweet heart, Samantha. He has 4 children, Addisyn 12, Noah 9, Ezekiel 5 and Isabel 4. Carlos lives in Rockwall and attends Lakepointe Church with his family every Sunday.


RODNEY WEBB

Coach Webb played football at Tarleton State University, where he earned All-American and Team MVP honors in 1989. He was inducted into the Tarleton Hall of Fame in 2007. He is a 1986 graduate of North Garland High School. While at Tarleton, he met and married his wife of 31 years, Fran, who has recently retired from public education. They have one daughter, Gracy, who is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Oklahoma City University. He spent five years as the Head Football Coach at Mesquite Horn High School, where he guided the Jaguars to the playoffs every year of his tenure, reaching the State Quarterfinals in 2010. Prior to coming to Horn, Coach Webb served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director in Royse City for five years, from 2003-2007. During that time, Bulldog Football went 44-16, with trips to the State Semifinals (2004) and State Quarterfinals (2004, 2006). Coach Webb served as the President of the Texas High School Coaches’ Association from 2019-2021.  He has been involved with the THSCA as a director since 2011.


BOBBY SUMMERS

Born and raised in Royse City, Bobby played middle school football for Royse City in the sixth grade and his three years of playing Middle School football his team went 30-0.  Bobby played high school football as a running back and a receiver.  He played on the high school basketball team and ran track participating in multiple track and field events. Bobby started announcing Bulldog football games in the mid 1980's, starting with the middle school games and gradually moving up to announcing all of the games from middle school through Varsity on Friday nights. Still enjoying very much the association with the local school district and having children that also went to school here, Bobby decided to run for the school board. Bobby has served every position now on the board, from Board Member, to secretary, to Vice President and serving six years as President of the Board. Bobby is currently serving his 28th year on the Royse City ISD Board of Trustees.
