ANTHONY CANTRELL
Cantrell was an all-round athlete that garnered numerous recognitions and awards. He succeeded both in athletics and in the classroom. As a standout middle linebacker, he received a scholarship to play for the Air Force Academy. Cantrell was also named to multiple All-District Teams as linebacker and as catcher for the Royse City Bulldogs. He was named to The Who’s Who in Athletics in America and to the Herald Banner All Northeast Texas Football Team. Cantrell starred in the Regional Championship game in 1997 and the State Quarterfinals Football Championship in 1998. Other accomplishments include Football Defensive Player of the Year his junior season, voted Football District MVP, Powerlifting Regional Qualifier and District Baseball Home Run Leader.
KERRY “SPIDER” MANTOOTH
Nobody loves Royse City Bulldogs Football more than Kerry Mantooth. Known affectionately as “Spider”, he has manned the Bulldogs sideline for nearly 40 years. Spider serves as the Sideline Special Assistant to the Royse City Football Coaching Staff. He is well known to referees throughout North Texas as the go-to man to get a fresh, dry and readily available football. Royse City Coaching Staffs from as far back as 1985 have benefitted from the knowledge and dependability of Spider. As football sideline special assistant, he has more championship titles than any coach or player that has played for the Bulldogs in the last 112 years of Royse City High School Football.
MICHAELA TRAVERS
A member of the Royse City Bulldogs Track & Field team, Michaela was named All-State in both 2017 and 2018. Her most notable recognition being a 5A state medalist in the 300H, finishing 3rd her junior year with a time of 43.91. As of 2023, Travers still holds the 300H record for RCHS. Her athletic and academic prowess landed her a scholarship to Oklahoma State University where she made a long-lasting impact in both indoor and outdoor competitions. She was named First-Team Academic All-Big 12 three times. From distance medley relays to individual events, Michaela racked up medals throughout her collegiate career. She was a member of the Cowgirl DMR squad that won the Big 12 Championship in 2022 and in the spring of 2023, she ran the 400 Meter Hurdles in a personal best 59.05 seconds.
