OUR MISSION
The mission of the Royse City ISD Guidance and Counseling Department is to empower and advocate for all students through a high-quality comprehensive, developmental counseling program that inspires students to strive for their maximum potential in academic, career, and personal/social domains. In a collaborative partnership with all district staff, families and community, the school counselors will support all students to become self-directed productive responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
GUIDANCE
The RCISD counselor develops a need-based guidance curriculum annually to help students develop their full educational potential. This proactive approach provides instruction using social, career, and academic-based material.
RESPONSIVE SERVICES
RCISD school counselors intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student’s continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk. Some examples include small group counseling, crisis counseling for prevention, consultation with parents, suicide risk assessments, PAW PACKS, dropout prevention, and child abuse reporting.
SYSTEM SUPPORT
RCISD professional school counselors support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students. Services in this area include counseling and guidance program coordination, accountability program review, suicide intervention, and prevention training, consultation with staff concerning student needs, and community outreach.
