Royse City ISD is pleased to announce that Boys Athletic Director and RCHS Head Football Coach David Petroff has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director. Coach Petroff has led RCHS Football for 11 seasons. His football teams recorded a first winning season in over 10 years, and first winning seasons in 5A and 6A classifications, first playoff wins in 5A and 6A classifications and multiple player of the year awards. 57 of Coach Petroff’s players continued on to play collegiately. In addition to numerous academic awards and achievements, RCHS also found success in mens powerlifting, basketball, swim, baseball and track under his leadership. Five former players have returned to Royse City ISD to teach and coach with Coach Petroff.
“We are very grateful for Coach Petroff and all that he has done for Bulldog Football and RCHS athletics. As our district continues to grow and adds a second high school in 2027, he will play a pivotal role in current and future athletic programs in our district. Coach Petroff’s commitment to the development of quality young men will continue to shape our athletic programs,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Amy Anderson.
On the announcement, Coach Petroff shared, “I look forward to continuing to serve the Royse City community and Royse City ISD in this new role. I am forever thankful to the community, players, parents, teachers, coaches, administration and school board for the opportunity to serve as the head football coach over the last 11 seasons. I am excited about this new opportunity to continue to work with our Royse City family in the future!”
Royse City ISD will open a search for the RCHS Head Football position immediately and keep student athletes, parents and the community informed of the process. Coach Petroff will work alongside Director of Athletics Bookout and Girls Athletic Director Zach Snow.
