Texas Today has partnered with Southern Methodist University (SMU) to honor inspiring North Texas teachers who are making a difference in the lives of their students. This year, Vicki McCoy, an ESL teacher at Bobby Summers Middle School, has been recognized as an SMU Excellent Educator for the 2024-2025 school year!
“My fellow staff members inspire me to go above and beyond for students. I am fortunate to work alongside some of the best educators at Summers,” McCoy said. “This motivates me to strive to be at the top of my game, to not only support students, but to also be there for my fellow teachers.”
Ms. McCoy's dedication to her students and her ability to create a positive learning environment have earned her this prestigious recognition. "She creates an inclusive classroom environment where every student (and staff member) feels valued and supported," said Melissa Harvey, Principal of Bobby Summers Middle School. "Her love for teaching is clear in her creative lesson planning and her commitment to going the extra mile for her students." Ms. Harvey further praised Ms. McCoy as a role model for both students and staff, whose positive attitude radiates throughout the school.
In recognition of Ms. McCoy's outstanding work, Bobby Summers Middle School will receive a $1,000 check from SMU.
