ROYSE CITY, TX – Royse City High School is celebrating a remarkable achievement, with its junior and senior classes securing over $425 million in potential scholarship opportunities. This milestone is largely attributed to the school's innovative partnership with VU Scholarships, a platform revolutionizing academic college recruitment.
Royse City High School has distinguished itself as the second high school in Texas to collaborate with VU Scholarships. This program functions similarly to athletic recruitment, but focuses on academic merit. Students and parents opt-in through the VU app, granting students access to a vast array of scholarship opportunities from various universities.
The results have been extraordinary. Royse City High School juniors and seniors have collectively been offered 8,448 scholarships, totaling a staggering $425,516,864. The platform's effectiveness increases as students enhance their profiles, unlocking even more scholarship possibilities.
Breaking down the impressive figures, the class of 2025 has been awarded $186,268,120, while the class of 2026 has secured $239,248,744.
“Our district is focused on providing our students many opportunities for success whether through college, trade schools, or the military. VU is an additional tool to help us achieve that,” said Melanie Acker, Executive Director of Counseling and Cultural Development. “We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements.”
The VU platform is accessible to all juniors and seniors, including student-athletes who have already committed to colleges. This feature provides continued access to scholarship opportunities, even for those with athletic commitments.
For example, senior Allison Choate, who has committed to play softball at Ottawa University in Kansas, can utilize the VU app to explore transfer opportunities, ensuring that potential scholarship funds remain available. "Even though I've already committed to play softball, VU has shown me there are still academic opportunities available," said Allison Choate. "It's really opened my eyes to the possibilities, and I'm excited to know that I can continue to explore scholarships, if I decide to transfer later on."
This initiative underscores Royse City High School's commitment to empowering its students and providing them with the resources necessary to achieve their higher education goals. The partnership with VU Scholarships is proving to be a game-changer, demonstrating the potential for academic recruitment to transform students' futures.
If you are a parent or guardian of a Junior or Senior and missed the opportunity to sign up, the window will re-open March 3rd-March 7th. If interested, parents can log into Qmaltiv to complete the VU Scholarship Consent. More information will be sent out!
