The RCISD Counseling Department established a new student mentor program in 2023-24! In its first year of operation, district employees were partnered with students across the district. A few of those mentors were able to attend the June School Board Meeting in celebration of the new program. ur mentor program was created to help students feel they have someone cheering for them…in their corner. According to Director of Counseling Melanie Acker, the RCISD Mentor Program was inspired by this Rita Pierson quote. “ Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."
