Dave Christensen

Royse City ISD is pleased to announce that Dave Christensen will be recommended for hire for the next principal of Miss May Vernon Elementary at the July 17, 2024 regular board of trustees meeting. Pending board approval, Mr. Christensen becomes the 4th principal in the history of the school following Brittany Lancaster who was promoted to director of administrative services earlier this summer.

Mr. Christensen has served as assistant principal for Ruth Cherry Elementary since 2022 and has 25 years of experience in education ranging from teacher to administrator. He holds a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and a masters degree from Texas A&M University. Additionally, he was a part of the 2020 cohort of educators to complete the Harvard - Raise Your Hand Texas Improving Schools Program.

“We are so thankful for what Mr. Christensen has accomplished with the administrative team at Ruth Cherry Elementary. His leadership experiences, knowledge of instruction and commitment to relationships lines up so well with the talented educators at Miss May Vernon Elementary,” said Superintendent Dr. Amy Anderson. “Miss May Vernon students will continue to grow, bloom and shine under his leadership in this exciting next chapter of campus history!”

Mr. Christensen will officially assume responsibilities at MMV Elementary after the July 17 board meeting. Royse City ISD and Ruth Cherry Elementary administrators will work on next steps to recruit and identify the right leader to join the Cherry Brave family as well.
